Angel's Envy Bourbon Finished in Port Wine Barrels
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 13, 2019 (edited December 11, 2019)Heavy vanilla on the nose and honey sweetness. Really soft and sweet on the palate, with a bit of pepper hidden. Medium long finish with most of the honey staying in tact. -
Bowmore 12 Year Enigma
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed November 9, 2019 (edited July 27, 2022)Heavy peat on the nose, with a ton of leather and earthiness coming through. On the palate, I get a bit of tobacco smoke, with leather and a bit of the earthiness found typically in laphroaig. It is shockingly soft, and smooth to drink, but very heavy on the peat. Fairly rich, and a medium finish. -
Super sweet on the nose, smells like straight honey. The palate is also super sweet, with honey, chocolate and straight sugar coming through with small amounts of wax. Tiny bit of fruit and pepper but not much. The chocolate lingers longer than anything else but it’s generally a short finish. Honestly a great value whisky, definitely worth $15

Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 9, 2019 (edited November 14, 2019)Baking spices and brown sugar on the nose. Really nice nose, not too strong but flavorful. The same can be said for the palate. Vanilla and pepper are prominent with a bit more of the baking spices. Really nice rich texture as well. Medium long finish that leaves mostly pepper and a hint of the vanilla. -
Bright nose, with a lot of caramel and a bit herbalness. On the palate there is a ton of flavor. The toasted oak really shines through along with the bright fruitiness and heat from the high proof. It’s held together with the classic makers sweetness. Despite being hot on the palate, it is shockingly soft going down, with almost no heat at all. Way more interesting and complex than other makers products and definitely worth checking out, especially because it is a one time release.

Very sweet nose matched by a sweet palate. The vermouth and Syrah really shines through, along with brown sugar and a bit of pepper. The finish is long and moderately spicy, although I wish it was a little spicier to be honest. Very comparable dram to midwinters but not quite as complex or flavorful.

High West A Midwinter Night's Dram
Rye — (bottled in) Utah, USA
Reviewed October 26, 2019 (edited November 13, 2019)Sweet and fruity nose, not too overpowering. On the palate, there’s dried fruits, pepper, and vanilla all very forward and apparent. Goes very well with dark chocolate and keeps you nice and warm. Shockingly smooth going down and a long after taste of that dried fruit that keeps you coming back for more.
