The nose is light and oaky. The palate is also heavy on the oak and a bit herbal and grassy. There is very little sweetness in the drink compared to other bourbon. But what is most striking to me is the texture. It is without a doubt the softest whiskey I’ve ever had. It is just very friendly and easy going the entire way through. I can see why this is a classic daily drinker favorite. Really great bourbon, even when you don’t consider the ~$30 price tag.

BSB 103 Brown Sugar Bourbon (Discontinued)

Reviewed November 24, 2019 (edited March 4, 2021)Just as the name would imply, the nose is full of brown sugar, cinnamon, and a bit of alcohol heat. The palate is even more sweet than you would expect, and the brown sugar is overpowering. There’s something kinda funky in the aftertaste, but I can’t quite figure out what that is. Overall, I can’t be mad at it, because it tastes exactly like it says it does. At the same time, this has almost no resemblance to whiskey, and might actually benefit from less of the sugary flavor. -
Parker's Heritage Barrel Finished in Orange Curaçao Barrels

Reviewed November 21, 2019Nose is hot, but a bit of the orange shines through. I get a bit of toasted oak in the nose as well. Quite odd. It tastes high in proof and has a nice orange sweetness underpinning the spirit. Going down it is incredibly smooth and the toasted oak reads up again. It’s very unique and quite interesting. -
Light Caramel and oak on the nose. Hard to get much other than that. The palate matches the nose, but it has a little more heat than I’d like. Not the kind of heat you get from a high proof, but the kind of heat you get from an unrefined whiskey, that sits on your tongue. It plays well with the American oak, and finishes with a bit of smoke, uncharacteristic of a non-peated scotch. It’s decently tasty and, for the price, a great buy.

Port Charlotte Islay Barley 2011

Reviewed November 18, 2019 (edited June 3, 2020)Light smoke than the port Charlotte. Still smoky but closer to a tobacco smoke with a bit of salt and brine. Palate is fruity and sweet, with the smoke taking a back seat to the flavor. tastes like a smoked bourbon. Still a little meaty but not as wild and hot as the port Charlotte. Bit of pepper on the finish as well. -

Reviewed November 18, 2019 (edited January 24, 2020)Hot nose with a lemon sweetness. Still very malty. Palate has toffee and caramel sweetness, with a bit of a bite at the back of the throat. Floral and malty, it kinda reminds me of glenfiddich fire and cane. -

Reviewed November 18, 2019 (edited October 5, 2022)It smells very bourbon sweet, toffee and caramel heavy. Bit of fruit (pear?) behind the sweetness. Definitely matches the palate, has a lot of complexity but very mellow. Absolutely delightful and lingers for minutes. -
The nose is incredibly interesting. It is sweet and smoky with a hint of oak and molasses. It is predictably hot on the palate without water but smooth going down. There is a lot of flavor (more so than Elijah Craig bp) and it really shines through nicely. It is a caramel sweetness with a touch of oak and a lot of cinnamon spice. Decently rich and full, this is extremely enjoyable right out of the bottle and without any water. Only complaint is the finish is quite short.
