Café Granita has a much stronger, richer coffee aroma than Kahlúa. It’s also got a stronger, although perhaps harsher, coffee flavor. Sampling them neat, side by side, I sometimes prefer the stronger flavor of Café Granita, and sometimes the mellower flavor of Kahlúa. If you’re looking for something to mix into a cocktail, Café Granita may actually be preferable.13.65 USD per BottleTotal Wine & More

Buffalo Trace Bourbon Cream
Dairy/Egg Liqueurs — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed October 19, 2020 (edited December 17, 2021)It’s a wonderful cream liqueur. Think Bailey’s but with the taste of bourbon. It’s sweet, of course, but not overly so. The balance between the cream and the bourbon is just right.18.99 USD per BottleTotal Wine & More -
Ilegal Mezcal Añejo
Mezcal Añejo — Oaxaca, Mexico
Reviewed October 15, 2020 (edited August 30, 2021)This is only my second mezcal, and my first añejo. I like the smoky flavor, which lingers long in the finish. I’m not as thrilled with the agave flavor, although it’s not that bad. I thought I’d like an añejo, as I like some añejo and extra añejo tequilas, but...meh, especially considering the price. You could get a very good bottle of bourbon or even scotch for that.85.49 USD per BottleTotal Wine & More -
Dos Hombres Espadin Mezcal
Mezcal Joven — Oaxaca, Mexico
Reviewed September 24, 2020 (edited October 15, 2022)I’m a whisk(e)y drinker. This is my first mezcal, bought for Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston’s virtual tasting. I didn’t know they’d just make cocktails. I’m not into cocktails, so I drink this neat, in a Glencairn glass. I have nothing to compare it to, except several tequilas I’ve tried, mostly añejo and extra añejo, which I do enjoy occasionally. I don’t find the agave aroma to be all that pleasant, although it’s nowhere near as bad as from some tequilas I’ve tried. It initially burns on the way down, but after a few sips that goes away and the flavor gets better. It’s sweet, with a pronounced smokiness that’s pretty nice. Would I buy another bottle? No. When I bought this one, I noticed there are añejo mezcals, and if I buy more mezcals, I think I’d prefer to try some of them. After I try more mezcals, I may realize this one is a gem, but for now it gets a 2.5 rating until I have a reason to raise or lower it.61.99 USD per BottleTotal Wine & More -

Reviewed August 19, 2020 (edited December 10, 2020)Sweet and rich, with orange marmalade, honey, and vanilla flavors dominant. The finish is long, with honey and a bit of honeysuckle eventually appearing.73.99 USD per BottleTotal Wine & More -
Glenfiddich 15 Year Our Solera Fifteen
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed August 19, 2020 (edited July 11, 2021)Sweet, fruity, with a bit of vanilla in the nose. Sweet on the palette, too, with a bit of honey appearing, and a bit of smoke as well. The finish is fairly long, and after a little while an herbal character shows up. It’s a pleasant dram, especially for the price.59.99 USD per BottleTotal Wine & More -
BenRiach Temporis 21 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed May 14, 2020 (edited September 17, 2021)Disappointing. Strong aroma and flavor of both peat smoke and Band-Aids. Dry, with a metallic taste, followed by a numbing, menthol-like sensation that continues in the finish. I don’t find that taste very pleasant. 3 cl sample from the 12 Drams of Christmas Premium (2019 Edition). -
Complex, rich, and very well balanced. It’s a peated whiskey, but there’s really only a very moderate amount of peat smoke. Although it’s initially sweet, it finishes dry, and after a while there’s a bit of a minty flavor, but it’s not offensive. I can’t think of anything negative to say. It’s just delicious. 3 cl sample from the 12 Drams of Christmas Premium (2019 Edition).
