Fighting Cock 6 Year Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 26, 2019 (edited October 19, 2020)High marks for the value here. At $18 I’m not sure if there is a better bourbon. High abv, great taste, some spice but nothing offensive. Reminds me of a less mature Eagle Rare. Would take this over anything I’ve tried in the sub $20 for 750 range.18.0 USD per Bottle -
It’s good but a little (a lot) overrated on this app by the ‘expert taster’. It’s got some up front flavor of Carmel and toffee, not too heavy on rye or spice. I like the wheated stuff and this doesn’t offend me. It just doesn’t have that mouth feel. Doesn’t coat the palate. Finishes quick. Boring after the nose and initial tongue.

Michter's US*1 Sour Mash Whiskey
Other Whiskey — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 6, 2019 (edited June 22, 2019)I would love to know what exactly the mash blend is by percentage. It’s a very interesting whiskey. It’s a little more spicy than what I like in a straight sipper unless it’s a peaty scotch. It lacks the buttery caramel and toffee of a true bourbon. The rye definitely shines through. Although not a sipper for me it is hands down a damn good choice for an old fashioned.40.0 USD per Bottle
