Michter's US*1 Toasted Barrel Finish Bourbon (2018 Release)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 17, 2022Have had this bottle for 4 years now. I store all my whiskey exposed to no light, temperature stable in my heated/ AC home, and use a nitrogen argon barrier to prevent oxidation...point is little degradation would be my thought despite being open for so long. This pour was slightly muted Nothing negative Nothing outstanding Very drinkable/ enjoyable Other than these Michters Toasted barrels have become so hard to get at retail I would probably not buy another, however would probably grab 1 if I had the opportunity to share with others as nice (NOT GREAT) bottle to have on hand, just north of $100 there are so many better bottles at or below that price point IMHO Cheers -

HIRSCH The Cask Strength Finished in Cognac Casks
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 11, 2022 (edited June 18, 2023)This is one dram that gets super tasty once it opens up and when it does its quite good The nose is sweet and draws you in The pallet is delicious so much mouthfeel and goodness, my taste buds literally watered Finish is long and warming No flaws...anything that did not fully grab me on the 1st sip dissipated by letting the whiskey sit in the glen What started off good ended great Gonna have to come back to this pour and really pay attention At retail can't hurt to have a back up or 2 With or with out the cognac this is a great example of well done whiskey Want to do a 3 way ...side by side This bottle A purple top And the Hirsch high proof Yellow label -
Nikka Taketsuru 17 Year Pure Malt
Blended Malt — Japan
Reviewed November 21, 2022 (edited July 2, 2024)I always "TRY" to scour the shelves at bars as sometimes find hidden gems at fair prices, especially given the secondary cost of some bottles in todays market / which sadly have also become the shelf price in many stores The nose was fruity, sherry The palate followed through with deliciousness The finish was enjoyable with a slight, just right "Kentucky hug" The pour was a very fair $35 The rating was higher then 4.25...might be a 4.5 may have to revisit this restaurant/ bottle so by default rating it at the higher 4.5 as it was THAT GOOD ;-) No Flaws35.0 USD per Pour -

Macallan 12 Year Sherry Oak Cask (Old Bottling)
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed September 5, 2022Not certain why its been so long since I have come back to this bottle Classic Macallan sherry on the nose...that Macallan sherry has made me a fan. Palate, Tasty, not thin despite fairly low proof but does not show it as even the finish holds its own and now I remember why this is a classic...sometime we need to be reminded -
A nose that is filled with sherry, very fruity, captivating Surprisingly mouth filling!!!! Viscous Long sherry enhanced finish that really lasts...it actually lingers in a most enjoyable way!!! Holds its own at decided proof Really well done At retail which is still somewhat obtainable buy multiples
