Tastes

Nose is heavy in dark fruits, cherry, plum, berries. Palate is very fruit forward with warming spices. Some port flavors (wish there were more). Very smooth and moderately complex for the proof. The more it sat the more flavors came through. Great winter sipper

Nose is great with vanilla oak and spice on the nose. Palate starts with some vanilla and spice. A wave of cinnamon heat ends in a fruity candy apple finish with some toasted oak/tobacco.

CN-E rickhouse Blind taste N: very herbal/grassy/tobacco. P: starts off bitter almost like a leather/nutty/wooded taste. Gives way to some rye spice and vanilla notes. F: sweet fades into the oak, earth tones

Blind taste N: brown sugar, vanilla, faint oak. P: Very smooth and not a lot of complexity. Starts with some grain/cereal notes, butterscotch, and honest/syrup. No heat at all. F: very smooth with some honey and almost like an apple or watermelon jolly rancher. Overall, solid but not much to it. Would like more spice. 90 proof guess. 3.75

Blind taste N: not very strong. Light oak, some ethanol, some vanilla as it mellows. P: Starts with some vanilla, gives way to baking spices and cinnamon that lingers and rolls around the tongue, and fades to some cherry or licorice fruit notes (very nice spice profile). F: spices and the fruit sweetness mix perfectly for a balanced smooth finish. Much more complex overall than the nose.

Blind tasting winner N: Oak and vanilla. Good nose. P: starts with caramel, cinnamon spice, wave of heat, toasted oak. F: ends with some candy caramel/apple, maple syrup and toasted oak. Very good. 4.5

Blind tasting - 2nd favorite of the night N: toasted oak, vanilla, brown sugar P: Good warming blast of rye spice followed by toasted oak, vanilla, brown sugar, some cocoa F: Ends warm with cinnamon and burnt sugar

Blind tasting - my favorite of the night N: Toasted marshmallow, some chocolate/hot cocoa, citrus P: Like having a s’more.. toasted marshmallow, chocolate, citrus, rye spice. Would be perfect next to a camp fire F: Good blast of heat, previous notes follow Incredible sipper. One of my favorite ryes

Blind tasting N: Fruity and floraly P: Follows the nose with heavy notes of dark fruit like cherry, candy apple, floral notes, and light vanilla sweetness F: very smooth and the sweet from the fruits and vanilla lingers

Blind tasting N: nearly non existent, faint fruit, vanilla P: Not much going on. Smooth with hints of fruit and vanilla, some rye spice F: Pretty straight forward with light spice some sweetness Overall, its fine, great in a cocktail though
