Tastes

A little nutty, with a little roasted cereal and caramel on the tongue. Finish is good, a little oily with some candy pecans, with an average length. Very solid all around, and truly impressive for a craft distillery.

A little spicy but not overwhelming. Rye on the back, bourbon on the front.

I clearly was given the wrong pour before (likely Brimstone). This is all delicious butter popcorn, which is a fabulous addition to a tasting menu, and occasionally a great addition to a regular weekend night. Even if the same not gets hit from start to finish, damn if it ain’t a great note!

Super good. Warm and nutty on the front, a little spicy on the back, with just the right sweetness on the finish. Both great and interesting.

I found this to be both eminently and imminently drinkable. Nicely toasted start and finish, warm and nutty all the way through. Not a complex ride by any stretch of the imagination, but a damn good weeknight dram.

Interesting flavor combos that come in waves - front is bourbon rounded sweetness, then the nutty high notes of the malt, followed by the spice of the rye. They don’t fold into each other so much - each is kind of its own note - which makes for a kind of bunjee-jump of an experience when I was hoping for more of a fluid rollercoaster. But expectations aren’t experiences, and it’s a fine pour, and an above-average old fashioned (super light on the sugar/bitters).
