Macallan Rare Cask
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed December 31, 2020 (edited December 6, 2022)At one point or another, we are bound to be influenced by the brand. I hope that's not what I am doing now as I know what I'm tasting... This is not just the best Macallan I've tested, this is one of the best made whiskies I've tried. 96/100. Happy New Year! -
Glenfarclas 25 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed December 25, 2020 (edited July 27, 2021)I must admit, I was expecting a lot more melancholy from this 25 year old Malt. Easy to drink and yet a little acid at the end. Not that disappointed since the jump from 21 to 25 years was about $10 retai. -
Highland Park 18 Year
Single Malt — Islands, Scotland
Reviewed December 23, 2020 (edited January 7, 2021)I really, really, really wish I could be the first Distiller user to bash the 18 year Old Highland Park. And yet I can't. This IS The reference. Period. (Disclaimer: 21 and 25 are yet to be tested...) -
Such a perfectly balanced Scotch. Just when you are about to say it might be too acid, the spice settles into a smooth landing. This is one of the smoothest, most lasting after taste, spice driven drams I've ever tried. This orchestra is driven by one man, but it is as complex as it can get without running out of perfection.

Balvenie Triple Cask 16 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed November 13, 2020 (edited December 23, 2020)Is there something as a wood overpowered whisky? The 16 Balvenie might just answer that question. Not as sophisticated as I remember it nor as a pleasant as I thought. I do look forward to the 21, with no first filled ex-bourbon casks preferably this time. -
Is the Glen Scotia one of the most underrated Scotch whiskies out there? This 15 yo seems to be just that. Extremely pleasant dram that won't tell you it is actually peated when you arrive to the party; oh no, he's too sophisticated for that. You'll find out when the butler offers you that night cap just before you are done for the day.
