Tastes

On the nose, rye spice with hints of bubble gum and banana laffy taffy. Little bit of vanilla bringing up the rear. On the palate, it's thinker and creamier than you'd expect. Super sweet too, with the bubblegum and vanilla extra prevelant. Pretty spiky on the finish. Somebody clearly put a lot of thought into this. It won't be everybody's go-to, but it's nice enough that few people will actively avoid it.

We'll call this nose.... tickley. Not much there. I think it's that way because you have to stick your nose all the way in there before anything shows up. When it does, bit of cinnamon, bit of vegetation. And that's about it. The taste is.... fine. Baking spices, touch of vanilla, maybe some oak. It also does this weird thing I've only ever found with Balvenie where all flavor is in a circle round your palate, and there's a sort of hole in the middle of your taste buds. And yet I like it. Is it special, no. Is it memorable, no. But it does what it sets out to do. And Woodford is always reliable to be decent. Don't let its star rating put you off.

On the nose, it's both sweet and green. Some sort of werther's original candy with a vegetable bite. Seems to be a lot of rye floating around with a punch of mint for good measure. Bit weak to be honest until you really stick your nose in there. But then it's quite punchy. On the palate, well to be honest, it's the same. More werther's, more rye, more mint. There is this nice creamy feel which does sort of tie things together. I mean, it's not terrible. But then again, it's not special. Mooch a pour from a friend. It's not something I'll keep around the house.

Nose is bready and sour, with hints of salt and sea funk (living up to its name). The palate is thick and hearty. Not sweet, but not aggressive. Full campfire that wraps you in a hug that leathery not soft.

The nose is dusty corn and sticky caramel. Maybe a little grape candy thrown in too with some barn musk at the end. The taste is also dusty. Green and rye in the middle while soft and golden around the edges. Bit of stewed pear and hay maybe. Minus the dust, definitely feels like the edges are sanded down. Bit more bitey than i expected. More unique than other classic Bourbons. Not a game changer but definitely something interesting to keep around when you need a change of pace.

The nose is thick strawberry jam with a burnt characteristic, almost like it was toasted or part of a pastry. But it's also heartier than expected. Almost reminds you of breakfast food or omelets. The taste adds sweet-smoked cherry to the jam with some weird funk floating around the edges. Relatively little finish, but the front end sure packs a flavor wallop. Would make a good breakfast whisky. Not quite substantial enough for dessert.

The nose is really sweet. Fruity actually with notes of pineapple, bubblegum, and creamy vanilla. It does smell like Bourbon, but with no normal Bourbon notes somehow. The palate keeps all these notes, but adds some corn dust. It tastes thin, but it's not somehow. Actually a pretty good mouth feel despite no finish. It's fun, probably a crowd pleaser, but won't change your life.

On the nose it's green and young. With this weird funk that could almost convince you it's a rye. But the green is weird. Reminds me of unwashed dishes or old carpet. The taste has a lot of burn, but the whiskey's thin. Pops of caramel here and there with a few malty tinges, but overall it's a one trick Pony and the Pony isn't talented. I'd pass. Especially at the price.

On the nose: malt, melted butter, green apple, funk, but no smoke. Perhaps a bit of salty rocks and wet moss. But it's the sweet baked apple that wins. The taste is SUPER silky. Butter, werthers candy, and savory black pepper. Very little finish. Interesting but definitely front loaded.
