Aberlour A'bunadh
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed January 12, 2022 (edited March 23, 2022)I added three dashes of water Nose: glazed Oranges, dark sherry fruit, baked goods, faint luxardo cherry juice, fresh honey Palate: dried fruits, lingering spices of clove and nutmeg, malty goodness 🤤, oranges from the nose, full bodied! Finish: dry honey, oak, nutty This... Scotch...is... amazing! Bold, intense, dark fruit with some subtle sweetness to balance it out and a lingering mouth feel leaving your mouth watering for more! This Scotch is definitely worth having in your bar or Scotch collection. One of my favorites in the line up!95.0 USD per BottleTotal Wine & More -
Nose: freshly made banana bread, honey, hints of chocolate, orange zest. Palate: delicate, honey from the nose, short bread cookie, some clove, vanilla cream. Finish: tiny malt, velvety, cooked apples This little guy is a fruit bomb I can see why people live the spots! Soft, approachable, fruity, hints of sweetness, complex, this is definitely worth the hype! It's been getting harder to find these too, so if you see one, don't hesitate and grab it!

Nose: Raisin, toffee, macadamia nut cookie Palate: uncooked dough, oak, burnt bread crust, full-bodied, grainy Finish: oak char, quick This is not my favorite pour in the world. The nose is inviting, but the palate falls on its face big time. Oregon spirit is a 4 grain, but it feels like the wheat and rye are fighting each other. Kinda creates this weird dough with burnt rye scattered around. I'd personally stick with their wheat whiskey.

Nose: brown butter, freshly made caramel, light nutmeg, cooked vanilla, raisin, prunes Palate: full bodied, mellow, that caramel from the nose, spices on the back palate which linger, butterscotch, super light pecan Finish: touch of oak, honey, silky This is truly a great bourbon! If you see this, grab it (even though you already do 😄) and try it for yourself! One of the best bourbons you can get your hands on below $60. A perfect balance of sweet and spice.59.99 USD per Bottle

Nose: Hershey's simple chocolate syrup drizzled over walnuts, very light cinnamon, dark caramel and corn still in the husk. Palate: oily, light cedar, vanilla, floral, touch of leather, silky chocolate syrup Finish: Chocolate, walnuts, a touch of light roasted coffee, quick Overall...not a bad little whiskey. This is a chocolate bomb all throughout! It doesn't really linger a whole lot on the palate. I've had the nocino liquor before from watershed and it definitely shows in this bourbon! The walnuts, chocolate and dark caramel show up here from the liquor! However...I don't think this is worth the high price tag. I spent $109 on this. It's an interesting little experiment to try and I appreciate that watershed did it. Here's looking to 002...which will be hopefully cheaper in the future 😆109.0 USD per Bottle

Ezra Brooks 99 Proof Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 24, 2021 (edited July 25, 2024)Nose: Caramel candy, hints of fresh mint, some rye bread, moist brown sugar and medicinal cherry. Palate: mouth coating, touch of lemon pepper, vanilla wafers, cherry from the nose, delicate earth notes and a few herbs Finish: Light green peanut, char (like that charred meat on the side of ribs, if you get what I'm saying), lingering spices and a hint of corn husk. Overall Lux has done a good job on this! This is an amazing work horse for the bar. I can see this working well in a smoked old fashioned or maybe even a Manhattan. However, the herbs and green peanut might scare off the average sipper, but if you're a fan of high rye bourbon, this one is worth the try... especially for $25.25.0 USD per Bottle -
