Glenfiddich Fire & Cane
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed June 4, 2022 (edited August 21, 2022)The sweet and the smoke play really nice together both on the nose and on the pallet. Tropical fruit and honey with dry peat smoke in the back. Not overly sweet and not overly peaty, nice combination and well executed. Not the best whisky you can have but a very good whisky to accompany your summer barbecue.35.0 EUR per Bottle -

Really nice well rounded Islay. The peat is not as dominant as I expected from the stories that surround this near legendary expression. The smoke is aromatic like incense or sweet sigar or pipe tobacco. Brine like in smoked fish and notes of vanilla sweetness, chocolate bitterness, peppery spice and lemon sourness all clouded in a mist of smoke.

Distinctive peat on the nose but not overpowering so you pick up lighter notes too of vanilla and dried hay. The pallet continues from the nose as a liquid campfire of wood and hay. Peaty but a dry inland peat like in peated highland scotch. Subtle sweet notes of vanilla and caramel. It's slightly better than the sea cask because it's has a richer taste and longer finish, but that could be personal preference. I think this is unparalelled in richness and taste for it's price.20.0 EUR per Bottle
