Scrumptious repo from a suprisingly low cost bottle lineup. Great cracked pepper notoes accented by soft agave sweetness and extremely soft lime citrus notes. A throughly fleshed out tequila, but not anexe ptionally complex option… A bequtifully long finish highlights the singular but apt mid-palate notes; and leaves me wanting for more…

Smoke Wagon Uncut Unfiltered Bourbon
Bourbon — Indiana (bottled in Nevada), USA
Reviewed April 17, 2023Strong nose with cereal, soft orange and mulled cherry. Oak is more prominent on the palate, with thin caramel, nutmeg, dried coconut and very agressive tannins. Long finish gradually becomes sweeter and more rounded. -
Widow Jane The Vaults 15 Year Bourbon (2020 Release)
Bourbon — USA
Reviewed January 12, 2021 (edited February 20, 2021)Nose of bing cherry, pineapple, menthol, banana cream pie filling, and soft cedar wood. On the palate the tropical fruits truly shine with more intense shaved wood and spice. A long and subtle finish certainly helps improve the complexity. -
Peerless Kentucky Straight Rye (24 Months)
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 9, 2020 (edited April 10, 2021)Arguably one of the best ryes I’ve ever had. Extremely complex nose of cedar shavings, caramelized sugar, dried spearmint, fennel root, and hints of cinnamon and baking spice. On the palate the sweetness shines a little more with the caramel becoming more prominent. Clove spice and oak are well integrated and there’s hints of brioche that come through on the very long finish. I cannot possibly think of anything I would change about this whisky! -
WhistlePig The Boss Hog V: The Spirit of Mauve
Rye — (bottled in Vermont), Canada
Reviewed December 9, 2020 (edited December 20, 2020)Terrific! Classic nose of mint and fresh dill with notes of ripe yellow pear. On the palate the intensity of the rye increases. Notes of dried hay, red delicious apples, poached pear with soft clove and fresh cinnamon. A long and complex finish keeps me wanting more. This is significantly more complex after being open for a year; WAY too tight right out of the bottle. -
Gran Cava de Oro Tequila Extra Añejo
Tequila Extra Añejo — Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed October 21, 2020Very sweet aromas with caramel and fresh prickly pear. Still sweet on the palate with prune and cracked pepper. Sweet on the finish as well with mild clove and vanilla. -
Comopveda Extra Añejo
Tequila Extra Añejo — Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed October 21, 2020 (edited May 29, 2023)Very soft nose. Light smoke and cracked pepper with red orchard fruit and soft vanilla in the nose. On the palate the pepper dominates up front. Sweet red plum and agave nectar rise up from under the pepper and carry through to a very long finish. A touch too sweet for my personal taste.
