Rye — (bottled in) Vermont, Canada
Reviewed August 19, 2020 (edited August 23, 2020)Sweet vanilla dominates the nose with a tiny hint of ethanol. Sweet again on the palate with baking spice nutmeg and cinnamon sugar. Light toasted brioche shows more in the finish. Simple but clean and flavorful. -
Lagavulin Distillers Edition
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed August 12, 2020 (edited March 10, 2021)Stunning! Stunning! Stunning! Rich sweet orchard fruit accenting bing cherries, dried tobacco, plantain bananas and wet moss. Classic lagavulin ocean iodine and smoked venison layer over the fruit notes. A terrific whisky and the best edition I’ve had so far. -
Knob Creek Single Barrel Select Rye W-1 F-06 R-09 (Binny's Beverage Depot)
Rye — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 22, 2020Soft caramel nose with dried orange mint. Luscious creamy texture with heavy oak notes. Toasted hazelnut and vanilla finish with crushed peanuts and clove. Finished the bottle WAY too quickly. -
Thin and faint on the nose. A little bit of raw hazelnut riding over light honey, vanilla and lanolin. Rich and buttery on the palate with golden raisin and dried cherry. It ramps up to darker plum character towards the finish. Incredibly clean on the finish with everything melding together beautifully!
