Tastes

During Warsaw Whisky and Friends festival I tried all the Paul John products and I find this one and "bold" most intriguing. If you are looking for a very good peated whisky this is your choice. There is a lot of classic earthy notes, but still this is kind of fresh and very well balanced - peat is great, but it does not overcome the other tastes - sweet, spices and fruits. I really enjoyed this and truly wonder what will happen when this stuff gest some serious aging. (130PLN - promo).

I find it similar to "Straight from the barrel" but obviously lighter and more smooth as it is not barrel proof. Again lot of sweet flavours and aromas, and again a well balanced bourbon. Worth every penny.

Incredible nose. Sweet, kind of "dark sweet". Similar in taste - hot and sweet, even very sweet. And then comes a fury of different tastes - corn, vanilla, honey, fruity syrup and caramel. Yeah - lot of sweet :) Bit too much for me, still - this is a great burboun.

Interesting, easy-to-drink whisky. Lots of fruits there, some spices and honey contribute to a balanced liquor (more for beginners tough). Solid position, but nothing extra ordinary.

Smooth and gentle. With a bit of pepper on the finish. And the bottle looks really cool :) But this is about it - nothing else to remember and to come back to.

Easy-drinking, smooth and well-balanced malt. Personally I find it ro light altough I admit it is a complex taste for a 10 y.o. Still it will not be my neither first nor second choice for this price.

Another interesting Indian experience. Pleasant nose - honey and fruits. But the taste is really unique - at first vanilla ice cream, which slowly fades and is replaced by aromatic spices. And then comes the finish. Rather short but again different - with pepper and - how come? - Indian spices? Very good, interesting whiskey. And definitely worth it's price. (135PLN)

I know this can be bought in every liquor store in UK but I find this one an extremely strange finding. It costs approximately 10USD and yet Jim Murray rated it 91 (!). I needed to know why. And this is how I discovered this very interesting blend. It has a slightly smoky, even kind of "swampy" aroma. You can also find these flavours when taking first sips. The whisky is well balanced and although this is not my best blend ever this for sure is a very positive surprise. (40PLN)

This is an excellent, smooth and easy - drinking bourbon. Nose is an absolute world championship, and altough personally I find it a bit to mild and to smooth I give it well deserved 5 stars. (125PLN - promo).

For sure this is a very good, affordable single malt. Adding water is good and helps unleashing hidden tastes of Indian spices. Very interesting experience. And I am really looking forward to see Paul John's liquors getting older and mature. This however is a very promising start. (app 130PLN - promo)
