Old Rip Van Winkle 10 Year Bourbon (107 Proof)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 4, 2020 (edited November 23, 2020)Tasted this blind aroma: cherry, caramel apple, hint of oak. a bit of a mild aroma but is quite nice overall flavor: sweet, initially hits with barrel spice but it fades quick, oak and bittnerness to finish Overall: the aroma and most of the flavor are great but the finish and complexity lack a bit I tasted this blind along side Weller 107 and I actually preferred the 107, it just had more going on which was crazy to me after the reveal -
Aroma: A little funky, apples, cherries (more prevalent as it breathes), slight vanilla and honey. Not as strong as i would expect for the proof but decent. Flavor: Very interesting, has some typical scotch flavors but with subtle notes of bourbon. Apple/pear, spices, a bit of cherry and oak and a lot of honey on the finish Overall: More complex than I would have guessed and has a good proof punch to keep the finish lingering. Very nice scotch and definitely worth the price70.0 USD per Bottle

Peerless Small Batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 12, 2020 (edited November 18, 2020)Aroma: a heavy dose of ethenol. Really need to let it breath. Once it opens you get hints of cherry, milk chocolate and brown sugar Flavor: quite sweet, a fair amount of cherry, brown sugar and some oak. Finishes with a slight bitter oak Overall: It's an average bourbon with a good proof but definitely not worth the price. Comes off very hot and a little young. Lacks a little complexity. -
Store pick Aroma: sweet corn, chocolate muffin and a hint of peanut Flavor: barrel spice really comes through on this one. Malt sweetness and milk chocolate that's finishes with some oak and spice and peanuts Overall: excellent pick that was about 7 years old. Has more character and body than the standard larceny22.0 USD per Bottle

Aroma: cinnamon dominates, brown sugar and a hint of peanuts and fenugreek. Flavor: cinnamon, corn sweetness, slightly bitter oak. Has a slight youngness to it but really not too much. Overall: I tasted this blind and was surprised that it's only 93 proof, it packs a huge spice punch! The large amount of rye helps hide the age but with some water that comes right back. If I find it on sale I'll probably pick up a bottle

Templeton Rye 4 Year
Rye — Indiana (bottled in Iowa), USA
Reviewed August 7, 2020 (edited October 15, 2020)Aroma: sweet vanilla and cinnamon. Simple yet stronger than I expected for the proof Flavor: sweetness with a little cinnamon and a touch of oak. It's quite this and the finish is almost non existent. Overall: Not something I would enjoy neat but is a good cocktail mixer -
Aroma: a little muted, sweet corn, and a touch of cinnamon Flavor: at first it comes off as a little simple just sweetness with undertones of cinnamon but once it starts to open up the spice becomes more prevalent and is quite enjoyable Overall: There isn't a whole lot going on but when it opens up it's a nice easy sipping rye heavy bourbon

Belle Meade Sour Mash Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Indiana (bottled in Tennessee), USA
Reviewed August 7, 2020Aroma: sweet corn, cinnamon, mint and a hint of citrus. Flavor: sweet tea immediately followed by cinnamon and a touch of mint. Finish is medium, the cinnamon lingers with a touch of oak. Overall: this is a spice forward bourbon but not overly so, the spice is balanced nicely by the sweetness and subtle hints of mint and citrus
