GlenDronach Original 12 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed February 8, 2015 (edited November 4, 2019)Grilled plums, honey, rum raisin ice cream and caramelized sugar on the nose. Mild spice and red berry jam on the palate. Dark chocolate and dried fruit on the finish. Slightly sweeter and spicier with a little more of an "edge" than Macallan. Macallan is smoother but tends to be a little one dimensional with the dried fruit notes. With Macallan phasing out the 12 this is my new sherry dram in the rotation. -
Very pleasant citrus and baked cookies on the nose but not a fan of the initial taste. There's something bitter, harsh and "dirty" about it. Gets better on the long and fruity finish. As far as cheap whiskies there are much better options in my opinion. I'd go for a bottle of Glenlivet 12 or Glenmorangie Original before this. But it's not bad by any means.

High West Campfire (Discontinued)
Blended American Whiskey — (bottled in Utah), Multiple Countries
Reviewed December 24, 2014 (edited February 1, 2015)Combines everything I love in one. Sweetness from the Bourbon, spice from the rye and gentle smoke from the Scotch. Hickory, maple, meats, fruits and a long spicy finish. Really impressed and surprised by this although it could be smoother. High West may have created a whole new category. -
Blanton's Original Single Barrel
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 24, 2014 (edited November 4, 2019)Not the biggest Bourbon enthusiast but this is pretty damn good. Nose and palette exhibit the classic Bourbon profile of Vanilla, cherry syrup and caramel. Full bodied and smooth. I think the best way to describe it is "Bourbon concentrate" you could water it down and get two bottles out of it.
