Certainly not terrible for the price, but this is a very plain grain vodka. It's slightly buttery with a palate of orange creamsicle and a touch of cough syrup with a tiny bit of grain bitterness on the finish. It's got a fair bit of ethanol too, but not enough to be a ruined experience. Won't buy any more but it's not bad for ten bucks.

Tough to rate, because I feel like the bottling is inconsistent. The batch I bought was kinda gross and radically subpar to all the Tito's hype I was expecting; the upfront sweetness was there but the finish was cheap and harsh. However, I had some out of a friend's bottle, and I must say, all the velvety smoothness I was expecting was all there. Delicious, sweet, smooth, and very easy to enjoy! Right away I compared to the one I bought myself, and there was indeed a difference in quality. I'm not (completely) crazy. I'd buy more if I could guarantee the quality would be consistent.

My favorite of the three so far, but Standard is a close second. Somehow the taste is cleaner and more crisp without leaning on the wheat characters too heavily. The addition of the golden root brings a spicy earthiness to the palate, reminiscent of ginger, white pepper and musty wood, but a wisp of sweetness balances it out nicely. This is absolutely delicious neat, cold especially.

Softer than the standard Russian Standard, the Platinum actually has a much more recessive flavor. Much of the flavor is simply the clean, sweet alcohol with a bit of cold minerality and bitter wheat finish. Taken cold, it tastes a bit grassy with a hint of sweet cream and more wheaty minerals. Very good, but I give the original more brownie points for more character. I imagine this makes a more neutral mixer though.

Russian Standard Vodka
Unflavored Vodka — Russia
Reviewed November 12, 2017 (edited August 20, 2020)Delicious vodka, doesn't try to hide its wheat origins at all! It's bold, bready, and commands a nice presence while staying clean and well-crafted. Slightly oily texture, and there's a wheat, mineral, citrus zest profile. Long lasting bitter finish with plenty more wheat. This isn't pure and void of character, but this is the best wheat for the price that I've tried. -
Jim Beam Signature Craft Brown Rice Bourbon 11 Year
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA

Definitely on the sweeter side of bourbon. Excellent, especially for the price. It feels like a higher quality whiskey that I don't feel bad mixing with! The taste I get is sweet with burnt brown sugar, salted caramel, corn, apricot, prunes, and toast. Toast? I think. The flavors are a tad rough underneath a slightly sharp alcohol, but it's manageable, simple, and easy to drink.

This is surprisingly complex and dense, despite its implied lack of age. The nose is a bit reluctant, with a slightly metallic malt, cherries, and coffee. Palate is very rich and thick in texture with much of the stout beer character coming through as creamy malt, salty butterscotch, more coffee, milk chocolate, and the faintest hint of hops. Finish is longer than the Irishes I've had in the past, with a warm chocolatey coffee bean air. Normally, I'm not a fan of copper flavors in my drinks, but it melds with the stout profile so wonderfully well. Definitely nab this even if you don't like standard Jameson. (which I don't.)
