Tastes

Some turpentine and WT gunk on the nose. This seems to be a fruity rye, with some brown sugar notes. Very drinkable. Not the most complex, but there are some layers. This is a solid daily sipper. 6/21/19

Muted, but soapy nose. Some young notes on the palate. Smooth for the proof. A bit flat. Some lingering spice. 6/21/19

Good nose, some sour fruit. Bitter note on the palate. Wood note is strong, makes sense given the age. Surprisingly thin nd straightforward given the age. Some spice. Pleasant. 6/21/19

Smell syrupy, very. Maple syrup, like smelling pancakes doused in syrup. Maple syrup and brown sugar on the palate. Very little spice. 6/21/19

On the nose, chalk, cinnamon, fresh linens, unripe fruit, brine, soy sauce and sesame oil. Velvety on the tongue, decent mouth feel. Sweet, cola, dark chocolate and coriander at the end. More complex than previous years, but maybe more particular. 6/2/19

111.8 proof. Smells like a room full of barrels. Sharp on the tongue, a cola caramel note mid palate, a rush of spices and slight bitterness at the end. 6/2/19

Classic nose. Classic palate. Great balance of sweet, spicy, fruity, and just enough herbal notes. Good mouthfeel. Again, very balanced. Drinkable with newbies and veterans. 5/27/19

Pleasant, light nose. Unfortunately some young notes. On the palate, floral at first, a flash of cola/caramel, then very velvety, with light spice hitting the back of the throat, not on the tongue. Finish is short, with a bitter note. The soft middle is interesting. 5/26/19
