Redemption Barrel Proof 7 Year Straight Rye
Rye — Indiana, USA
Reviewed September 2, 2019 (edited May 13, 2021)Ah, muted but familiar rye nose, slightly herbal, MGP. Black tea and Pepsi on the palate, then a burst of dill that lingers. Smooth for the proof. Ends with charred wood and bitterness. Great on profile bottling. 9/2/19 -
Bardstown Bourbon Co. Phifer Pavitt Reserve Finish
Bourbon — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed September 2, 2019 (edited February 19, 2021)Some musty barrel notes on the nose, that I tend to get with wine finishes. Herbal, clove honey notes, nice spiciness. Musty dark fruit that lingers. Long finish, with a hint of chocolate. Another solid offering from Bardstown. 9/2/19 -
Bardstown Bourbon Co. Fusion Series #1
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 2, 2019 (edited August 29, 2020)Light nose. Initially spicy, but drops off quickly. Slight floral palate. Young and bitter notes, but not overwhelming. A slight, sweet, cola note at the end. This is nice. 9/2/19 -
The Ambassador Barrel Proof Straight Bourbon (Fall 2018)
Bourbon — Indiana, USA
Reviewed August 24, 2019 (edited August 28, 2022)This is the 2017 bottling. Very light, slightly musty nose. Slight honey after a minute, gets more syrupy with time. On the palate, smooth for the proof. Reminds me of sweet tea, a fruity tea with honey. Lingering spice in the back of the throat. The finish is one note, of spice, but it lasts forever. Nice and pleasant pour. 8/24/19 -
Classic MGP on the nose, plus... bananas. Nice oak touch. On the palate, smooth, tastes like a rickhouse smells. A sharp wood note creeps in, with rye notes. Pecan nibs. Balanced sweetness. The spice level seems about to kick in, but then doesn't. Some spice lingers but it's not a firecracker. Bananas show up again on the finish. 8/24/19100.0 USD per Bottle
