Tastes

Single barrel 5 year, 110 proof. A more intense version of the standard 4 year. Good, sweet nose. Tea on the palate. Some floral notes. Slight bitterness. 12/6/19

Smells soapy. Some unripened bananas. Actually a good nose. Tastes like... disappointment. Opens up after a while. Some fake peanuts, some bitter chocolate. Its solid, but nothing stands out. My expectations were out of whack. 12/6/19

Good nose, if muted. This tastes like gin infused tea. Slight cacao nib bitterness. 12/6/19

Nonexistent nose at first, slowly opens up. On the palate, the same level of interesting you would expect, but less floral and a deeper complexity. Smooth but still spicy. The "different" nature of this doesn't punch you in the face like some of the other acts, but it's still there. 12/6/19

2019 barrel. Strong nose, more so than I remember of other years. Wood, spice, caramel, a hint of grass. Not as thin as prior years (but still thinner than I'd like), a bit sharp, it tapers off at the end then comes back stronger on the finish. Not as much food flavors, more industrial. 12/6/19

Not bad. Not complex, a smooth sipping whiskey. Slight bitterness. 12/1/19

Strong nose, sandalwood and furniture polish, maybe a hint of fruit, burnt sugar. Fragrant. On the palate, the wood notes carry over, in fact this drinks just like it smells. Lingering spice and warmth. 12/1/19

Good nose, traditional sweet and leather notes. The aged wood notes are evident on the palate, with an increasing bitterness that lingers in a surprisingly long finish. 11/28/19

Tastes young but also woodsy/astringent at the same time. I do get a cacao note. The Woodford sharp note is there. A bit of cologne. 11/28/19

Interesting. Sweet, not too many young notes, the musty wine barrel notes are there. Not too floral. Surprisingly balanced. Again, interesting. 11/22/19
