Vanilla and cinnamon tea. Spot on flavor notes and high score is for the price point. Yes it’s watered down and “could benefit from a few proof points” yeah we get it but its cheap and easy drinkng and damn tasty for the proof and price point. Think 80 proof four roses. Damn good for the money. I mormally dont rate on price but it makes sense on this one

Remus Repeal Reserve Series VIII (2024 Medley)
Bourbon — Indiana , USA
Reviewed October 24, 2024 (edited October 29, 2024)The expert review is spot on here. Also this one is 101 proof!? AND drinks like a 90 proof!? Careful with this one bc it is super essy to drink while delivering good flavor. Better than the VII for sure. A nice jump in age and some cool stats to increase value like nonchill filtered and tweaking the proof to benefit the flavor of the whiskey.85.0 USD per Bottle -
Wild Turkey Jimmy Russell 70th Anniversary Release
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 21, 2024 (edited November 1, 2024)This is a great representation of WT products. Stands out to me next to several KS and RR PB picks. I thought the expert score should have been a 90 as I went to select 4 stars. Def better than a B in my book. -
This takes the standard offering and makes it less boring with the oak influence. Also this is not just a blend of three whiskeys. Decent concept with promising results. Is it better than other $70 whiskeys? Mostly no. But it’s a nice step up from the normal angels offering for sure. Score is based on how it improves on the reg offering.

Shenk's Homestead (2024 Release)
Other Whiskey — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 21, 2024 (edited October 18, 2024)I agree with the expert tasting notes. Lots of cherry with a woody funk but I dont agree with the score. This one belongs in the nineties. Every release seems get better than the last and thats difficult to do110.0 USD per Bottle -
Such a good bottle. Funny how this is slightly sought after, as in it’s usually only findable at $100, yet the ratings are low. This is a great base level bourbon to keep on hand. Very basic flavors. Reminds me more of Eagle rare than Blantons but its for sure a simple pleasing sip reminiscent of buffalo trace products. I prefer low proof so this is right up my alley. If you can find a small batch store pick you will find a 90 proof gem.50.0 USD per Bottle

Nose has cedar chest and red fruit notes. Palate had an oaky cherry vanilla thing going on. very oaky but not a bitter flavor. the finish is heavy molasses some red fruit and slight drying effect like the taste of a popsicle stick but somehow isn’t too dry and lingers nicely. The young whiskey flavor is prominent through out but its not overpowering like some craft brands. The madiera covers it up quite nicely. Taste like a young ish midwinter’s night dram. But at $100 I’d rather have the MWND for a little more. Overall its good. Its a refined variant of the Garrison Gusdalupe. Yet another very young Texas whiskey that has a decent finish but the young flavor comes through heavily and doesn’t justify the price point. Still Austin did well with the bottled in bond series and based on those offerings all still austin products should start with a minimum of four year aged spirits as their base. support local but don’t take advantage of local support.
