Nose: Smoke and tar start the show, slowly fading away but keep dropping by now and then. Like nosing a slowly burning driftwood. Sugary peat is the main factor, with barley and a little touch of salt. Taste: Malt is very fruity, with powerful peat and a touch of honey. Water adds nice tones of crispy licorice with some smoke deep in there. Finish: Long, with dry and sugary notes and peat. Cigar smoke and coffee hits the aftertaste. Great finish! Balance: Greatly in balance with a wonderful finish. Complexity and smoke with some nice sherry influence, this is whisky heaven.

Teeling Single Grain Whiskey
Single Grain — Ireland
Reviewed January 25, 2015 (edited July 27, 2016)Nose: For a brief moment, there is that watery, yet stingy scent of spirit, that grains tend to do. Fortunately it fades away quickly, leaving room for smooth and soft notes of wine, red grapes and vanilla. The sweetness is then mixed with spices, resembling a lot of rye whisky. Water brings out the sweet Cabernet more. Taste: Like nose, for few seconds, there's that bad blended kind of watery taste, that evolves into nice buttery sweetness and at the end, spices (that resemble rye yet again). Berries, fruits and spices. Water improves the taste, with emphasis on the sweet side, bringing red wine on the palate. Finish: Dry and medium length. Sour berries, that linger and spices, that run fast down your throat. Balance: Pretty straight forward Irish whiskey, which gives brief warnings of everyday bad grain blend, but thankfully overtakes 'em with sweet and spicy character. There's that rye kinda feel, which probably makes me like it more than I should. -
Nose: Starts with some nice vanilla. Then continuing with strong and heavy peat and smoke with citrus salt. Taste: Sweet notes and smoke balancing all the way. Vanilla and lemon mix, followed by some heavy smoke. Finish: Sea salt and smoke with hints of sugary notes. Lingering very long. Balance: In great balance and with big character. The aftertaste just goes on and on. I dare you to try it!

Nose: Malt and chocolate with hints of fruity notes. Taste: Liqueury with spices. Delicate blend of dark chocolate and biscuits. This is very smooth, I mean VERY. Finish: Oak with peppery notes in a very brief finish. Balance: Nicely balanced, sophisticated and smooth. Lacks quite a bit character and way, way too quick finish – that's why so low score.

Nose: Smooth and sweet – much smoother than the taste. Starts out stingy and spicy, but it all fades away, turning the nose into smooth notes of oak and vanilla. Taste: Oak, honey and vanilla are the main factors. Bit of spicy notes too. The nose did imply for a smooth taste but it turned out a bit too stingy. Finish: Fruits last pretty long. Dry with sweetness of vanilla. Hints of oak. Balance: An okay dram. Young and not in best balance but if a guy like me (doesn't like pointy and fruity palates) can grow to drink it, I guess anyone can.

Nose: Stingy with herbs and honey. Hints of spices and toffee. Taste: Fruity with honey in a watery grain whisky type of palate. Hints of malt is present and the taste is still the best part. A prove for blended whiskys potential. Finish: Fast and sharp finish of spices. A watery cinnamon blast. Balance: Regular type of malt and grain blend. For fast consumption and cocktails.
