I missed Lagavulin so much! Finally got a Feis Ile bottle. Nosing: Orange-y, vanilla comes up first. Some dried fruit also. Lime-y also. Leathery, smoky, briny. Smoked bacon and smoked salmon. Smells like a shellfish soaked with seawater. Gentle peat smoke. Sweet and smokiness alternating, great balance of peat smoke and sweetness. Tasting: sweet, but also smoky. Some burnt leather in your mouth, briny. Quite citrus. Quite strong. Finishing: leathery and briny. Although the ABV is relatively high, I can’t really notice the alcohol burn. Very very good Lagavulin , but comparing to the glorious Lagavulin 16? I wouldn’t say this Feis Ile bottle absolutely beats the 16yo bottle. Anyway, I can’t stop drinking it.

Served neat. Distilled in my hometown, Hong Kong. Very clear and fragrance. Enjoyable when drinking neat. Very excited to mix it with tonic. Nosing: very floral and citrus. Chinese black tea (Pu’er). Strong presence of orange peel of course. Maybe due to one of the botanicals, dried tangerine peel. Juniper heck yeah. Chrysanthemum tea, all Hong Kong kids memory :) Some Chinese medicine underneath. Tasting: sweet, juniper-forwarded, pu’er tea again, and a Chinese medicine mix, which usually added as spices for soups and stews in Hong Kong. Finishing: warm and floral. Really stunning. Very comfortable and smooth even served as neat (Which I usually won’t enjoy that much!) A bottle full of Hong Kong elements. You must grab a bottle when you visit to HK/ see a bottle in your liquor store!!!

Bimber Distillery Da Hong Pao Roasted Oolong Tea Gin
Flavored Gin — England
Reviewed February 22, 2021It is so good that you can actually drink it neat. Nosing: juniper, orange peel, of course the oolong tea. Tasting: Although the ABV level is high, but it’s so smooth with a waxy texture. Again, juniper and oolong tea. Very unique as a gin. I believe the base spirit is so good to give this uniqueness. Finishing: short orange peel note. No matter you are serving it by G&T, or neat, all of them are great :) -
Reminds me a trip to the Southeast Asia. The cassava base spirit, with 11 native botanical, also juniper berry and angelica root. Very very special tasting, both neat and G&T. But might be a bit weird since it taste like some Thai desserts in a liquid form. Nosing: pandan, coconut (not a botanical to this gin), Thai basil, tiny bit of junipers. Tasting: pandan again. I am tasting a touch of banana, and again a hint of junipers. Finishing: short. Updated on 22/03/21: I was too lazy to create another tasting note, I served this with a special tonic water (made in HK, infused with sun-dried tangerine peel and perfume lemon), it goes superb and taste like Coca Cola. The pandan, Thai basil, juniper and touch of vanilla come first, then the tonic water extends the finishing on the palate with circus and spice. I think this gin might need a sweeter and aromatic tonic water.52.5 USD per Bottle

Nosing: vanilla, ripen banana, white grapes, raisin. I also got some sherry wine notes... however this is wine cask matured. Some creamy notes, apple, pears, raspberries, plums. Lots of lots of fruity notes... also some brown sugar, or maybe maple syrup. I am getting some chocolate notes too. Tasting: sweet. Some oaky notes, again the raisin. Also some sherry wine notes. And some vanilla. The alcohol effect is quite strong since it’s cask strength (e.g. mouth dry), however I don’t really feel the alcohol kick. Finishing: sweet fruity notes.

Still awesome. One of the best blended I have tasted. Nosing: pears, strawberries, light honey, vanilla, orange blossom, caramel, whipped cream, a touch of grassiness, cake frosting, canned pineapple. A very very sweet, delicate “blended spirits drink”. Tasting: quite oily. a sweet nutty notes, a bit of orange, a hint of honey. Finishing: honey notes.

Single Malt — Campbeltown, Scotland
Reviewed November 29, 2020 (edited February 4, 2021)Very springbank-y. Writing this note immediately after opening the bottle. Nosing: honey. Immediately some Campbeltown funk rise up. Old book, and a bit like the smell at the backstairs, a bit musty. Some smoky notes, maybe bonfire? And somehow it reminds me a glass of lemon tea in Hong Kong, flavoured with honey again. Some sweet nutty notes, maybe cashew, or macadamia? A light vanilla underneath. I am also getting a meaty broth in this dram. I’m getting some milk chocolate, a touch of mint and some marshmallow also. Tasting: quite oily, maybe a bit of lemon. Also some oaky notes. Finishing: not quite long, but a bit of citrusy. Some orange peels.
