Resilient 15 Year Single Barrel Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Tennessee , USA
Reviewed July 8, 2020 (edited June 1, 2021)On the nose I’m hit with a strong corn and oak aroma with mild smoke and vanilla. On the palate I’m getting spice, sweet corn, and some mild fruity flavors. The finish has a pleasant burn with lingering spice. I typically prefer smoother and sweeter finishes but this is a nice change of pace. First impression is it would be perfectly paired with a wood fire in a cabin deep in the woods. -
Early Times Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 6, 2020 (edited July 21, 2020)Semisweet vanilla, mild sting to the nostrils, mild floral nose. Pleasant, medium-bodied vanilla and oak on the palate. Hint of tobacco on the finish. What I imagine settlers drinking in the early times. Classic well-balanced bourbon, not to heavy one way or the other. Not my favorite but $30 for 1L is hard to pass up for a BIB -
Wilderness Trail Bottled in Bond Single Barrel Bourbon (Wheated Bourbon)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 4, 2020 (edited July 16, 2020)Nose: at first was not picking up much to be honest, some spice, some ethanol, mild vanilla and caramel, mild fruit (?cherries). Seems to open up when let to breathe, now getting honey as well. Palate: medium bodied, still mild vanilla and caramel, oak and smoke on the way down, finish feels like I just smoked a cigar -
Russell's Reserve Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 2, 2020 (edited September 20, 2020)Pleasant nose with honey, vanilla, caramel with no ethanol. Mild smokiness/leather. Straight honey with the first sip. Caramel and vanilla middle. Mild spice. Oak/smoke on the back end. Only knock is the finish which seems to linger with tobacco flavor. -
The proof really comes through on the nose with subtle sweet vanilla, caramel and a hint of fruit (apple?). The palate is top notch: full, oily, fruity, oaky, vanilla. I feel like it tastes different with each sampling. The finish has some bite with tobacco, spice, and smokiness. Lingers a bit. This one has won 2020 whiskey of the year in the “whiskey bible”. I don’t completely agree with that but I will buy it again and again at $45

Super sweet on the nose, no alcohol fumes at al. I get sweet tea aromas. The best nose IMO to date. Faint fruity and floral smell. Very light sweet caramel and vanilla notes. Smoothest bourbon I’ve tasted. Finish is sublime. My one critique is I often favor high proof bourbons with a little burn, more body, and more flavor. All that said, I could drink a 750 right now.

Garrison Brothers Texas Straight Bourbon Whiskey - Master Distiller Donnis Todd's Single Barrel, hand selected by Total Wine & More (Barrel Proof)
Bourbon — Texas, USA
Reviewed June 27, 2020 (edited March 5, 2021)Corn corn corn. Sweet corn in the nose. Super smooth sweet corn and vanilla on the palate. Amazed with the lack of burn/bite/heat for the proof. And the flavor for the age (3yrs) Pricey but worth it.
