Rich, dark, spicy, and complex on the nose. Some green vegetation, some dust. Spiciness is not limited to typical baking spices and brown sugar. Ginger? Flavor is bright and sweet on the tip of the tonge, and dark and savory on the back. Something in this is redolent of a good vegetable stir fry. Strongly present fruit as well. This is just lovely and certainly one to be savored. Not your typical rye. Finish is epicly long and interesting.

Reviewed May 30, 2025Fruity nose with slight vinegar undertone. Some mineral notes as well as floral and mild earthiness. Flavor is tart and slightly metallic. The Scottish malts are definitely present. Water opens the whiskey somewhat to strengthen the aromas and flavors, but a bitterness emerges as well. Not my favorite. -
Fairly closed on the nose, alcohol and burned caramel. Flavor is also rather one-dimensional and focused on barrel char. Water does not open the nose, but rather mutes it and produces some minerality. Flavor alters with water, becoming more complex. Some herbs and spices. This might be a whiskey that cries out for ice. Not bad, but very one-dimensional

Brown sugar and charred toast alongvwith some spiciness dominate the nose. The limestone mineral water has a presence, with some floral notes emerge. Some vanilla late. Flavor is bold and rich with wood and treacle large and in charge. It’s an assertive and hearty sip that let’s its 90 strength be known without feeling the need to knock you down and kick you around. Corn (King’s Syrup!) is a late arrival to the nose, and is aided and abetted by a splash of water.
