J.T. Meleck Single Barrel Cask Strength
Other Whiskey — Louisiana , USA
Reviewed April 10, 2024 (edited July 6, 2024)Specs pick barrel 248, bottle number 29, 121.7 proof (60.85 abv) Unique starting note as i get milk chocolate, caramel, slight prune, salted caramel, moderate oak, then some almondy/walnut notes where the finish bring some of the sweet chocolate, oak and great savory baking spice that is long in duration. This is a seriously unique and incredible whiskey that most bourbon guys would find very pleasant. The amount of flavour tht is produced simply from a single grain rice whiskey is unbelievable. Would highly reccomend grabbing if given the opportunity! -
Siembra Valles Blanco Tequila
Tequila Blanco — Tequila Valley, Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed April 2, 2024Both raw and cooked agave to start, some minty herbal notes, some cilantro, dashes of floral notes, lime peel, granite earthiness, and some black and white pepper. The finish brings forth more minerality, herb and peppery notes that last medium to long duration. Fantastic mineral rich blanco coming out of the cascahuin distillery!60.0 USD per Bottle -
my bottle says aged for at least 5 years so i think that and the tequila cask make this a level up from baby blue. Vanilla to start, then mild baking spice, tannic oak, mild caramel, slight oily, gritty corn sweetness. finish begins to show more tannin, spice but also the agave kicks in. There is a noticable agave syrup/roasted agave note thats able to be picked up along with dashes of that green agave herbality. All these tastings of texas whiskey make it hard to pick a fav!

Spey River Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky 20 yrs
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed March 10, 2024I get fruity apple notes, mild berries, light caramels, creamy notes and it begins to close with cereal and light baking spice. The finish is a bit short but very easy. for a 20 year scotch its a bit underwhelming but i cant really complain about a 70 something dollar pricepoint. Be a nice bottle to keep around for newbies -
a sweet caramel note to start that begins to bring out some cinnamon spice, light mint, some herbality, orange peels and some mild fruity notes. Closer to the finish the oak and spice comes out, with the finish beging long and hot on account of the ABV (119 proof). Its not mind blowing but it makes a good old fashion, is a great price for a cask strength and reminds me a bit of the old forester rye. although lacking the more floral and eucalyptus notes of the forester.

Man is this the best thing ive had from balcones. You start off with some caramel, wet oak, damp hay, brown sugar. You then get some intense fruity notes, mostly dark prune and strawberries along with walnuts. The finish had a toasted coconut, baking spice and fruity finish thats long and flavorful. Proof point is perfect as well so all an all this has jumped to the top of my fav single malts. I really need to try more from balcones

Elijah Craig Barrel Proof Bourbon Batch C923
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed February 25, 2024 (edited March 9, 2024)Intense and robust while still being enjoyable and complex, there is dark chocolate, caramel, nuts like walnut or chestnut, robust tannic oak, leather, cherrywood, and mild prune. The finish has an intense ethanol tingle, is long in duration and has notes of baking spice, tannin and cocoa. I understand the hype behind this batch and i will say its a fantastic barrel proof
