Green Spot Single Pot Still
Single Pot Still — Ireland
Reviewed December 15, 2017 (edited August 22, 2018)A personal favorite. I get Frosted Flakes on the nose, with ripened fruit and tiniest bit of peppermint. At first taste, there is apple and orange zest, but additional layers slowly reveal themselves. That may be due, in part, to the backbone of this whiskey, which gives it weight & heft. This attribute sets Green Spot apart and may account for why I think no single flavor is pulling the strings, rather it is an orchestra of various notes. In this way, every sip feels unique. -
Nose: marmalade, toasted oats. Plenty of jam notes at front, so I may disagree w reviewer to some extent about fruit being subtle. Still, not surprisingly, Moreno is on target about the value. Even if I concede that this is a touch better than Green Spot or Redbreast, the price comparison gives strong edge to those two offerings. Finish is long, sweet, and pleasant... mostly vanilla.

The Quiet Man 8 Year Single Malt
Single Malt — Ireland
Reviewed December 6, 2017 (edited March 4, 2018)sample/tempted to give this 4 stars, as I think it has a unique after taste reminiscent of Tullamore Dew. I see one review says sawdust?! that actually might be it...also hints of chlorine. May not be for everyone, though it stands out. 2nd sample/nice oats & toasted bread finish. -

Balvenie Doublewood 12 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed December 2, 2017 (edited January 30, 2018)A Scotch made just for me? Perfection! Nose: abundance of dark fruit, some honey. That honey takes the stage at first taste though, moderate spice follows. As many have said, the lightness in flavor is rounded out by a chewy, full mouthfeel. Amazing. Addl Notes: that Sherry really seems to coat the tongue, creating that chewiness.
