Old Elk Blended Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — (bottled in) Colorado, USA
Reviewed January 12, 2021 (edited April 20, 2021)Always seeking "entry level" or "gateway" offerings. And though I'm not sure bourbon even needs it, given its popularity, the smooth and clean Old Elk may be a great choice for said "gateway" - especially at mid-level price point. Fruit (pear, banana) with light black pepper on taste... and that sweeter finish surely could win over some bourbon skeptics. -
Three Fingers High 12 Year Sherry Finished
Canadian — Canada
Reviewed January 8, 2021 (edited May 2, 2021)Better than average Canadian, though it just has one chord. The lack of refining character is the most significant shortcoming. -
The delicate nature, along with it's reasonable cost, strongly suggests a great introduction to Scotch. There is just enough subtlety, while the dram is still completely approachable, that this would be a great way for someone to dip their proverbial toes in the water. Butterscotch, honey, apple, banana all share some time.
