his has some peppermint on the front that kind of blends into a syrupy sweetness on the finish. It lasts a long time. There are also some of the usual bourbon flavors like caramel and vanilla and oak, but those are more muted. It's finished in port casks which I think explains the rich full sweetness.
The best Angel's Envy bourbon I've ever had. The port is there, but it is more subtle than the proofed-down version. All of the edges are rounded off.
The port has a bit of a dark berry, like raspberry or blueberry, come through but not strong. More subtle. The same with the slight hint of a dark bitter chocolate. The mouthfeel is buttery and wonderful. There's also caramel and a little bit of nut.
Oak, green apple, black pepper. I say bitter but not in a bad way. Medicinal astringency at the end, which is delicious and warm. The port casks add lovely herbal depth. My 3rd AECS year, 2nd favorite. 2021 is proving hard to beat.
