Third time coming back around to this in a year. This one always surprises me with the simple yet well made base expression. Smoke up front, followed by black pepper, light lemon citrus and light honey/malty sweetness. My only old complaint was that this was too peppery. Recently I started purposely adding extra black pepper to my food. Now I appreciate the tingle of pepper in this whiskey. It’s much better than I remembered (and it was good then), and for the price it’s, in my opinion, the best bang for your buck scotch for those who prefer peated whiskies.
Sweet, seasalt and very smoky on the nose. Pallate was spicy and sour, definitely some burned rubber smoke together with a hint of ginger. After taste was long, spicy, sour and smell like bonfire that had just been put out. With a few drops of water, the taste opened up and actually it mellowed, which I like it. There is also a post rain grassy smell.
