Balcones Brimstone Whiskey
2nd try
American craft distiller Balcones created this smoky corn whisky, fittingly named the Brimstone, by smoking the whisky itself rather than the grain. It is innovative techniques such as this which are creating a buzz around American whisk(e)y at the moment.

Corn whisky, definitely sweeter than the likes of the Knob Creek, you get a more intense flabor and sweetness, bbq corn, metallic-ness that is often associated with corn whisky, 2.5
flavour is lacking for such an intense smelling whisky - i am surprise that the flavor is not hitting it, dryness, you get a strong intense oaky bitterness, dark chocolate would be how i would call it, bbq roasted charcoal, a bit to raw and in your face for my liking 1.5
oaky long sustained 2.25
2
Metallic plastic sweetness associated with grain whisky, leathery 2
Metallic, thick malty, thick, brown sugar burnt caramel, dry, peppery 2
Finish oaky, hot pepper

It’s a very interesting taste, I won’t say it’s a bad whisky. But the issue is the deviation from a “typical whisky” that is why the rating is lower
Spicy peppery 2
Bourbon corn, close to Jack Daniels, 2
