So far, this seems like the quintessential gin-lover’s gin. You get what you asked for here; but the fan service doesn’t get in the way of the balance. It’s got a moderate sweetness that rounds things out, and the juniper is right up front and being its best self, but the supporting cast is there to really carry it forward, including citrus peel, and deeper herbaceous and earthy notes. A classic for a reason.
Drinking the 44% American version, but it still has plenty of alcohol bite and plenty of the juniper and lemonpeel flavors. Not as interesting to sip neat as Hendricks, but still perfectly drinkable. My wife and I like our gins juniper-forward, and this hits above its weight in value. This may just be our new house gin.

Potent nose of black pepper, juniper, tree bark, lemon and lime peel, grapefruit, cardamom, fennel, celery and herbs like oregano and thyme. Quite rich on the palate, , with plenty of black pepper, juniper, citrus, and herbs, and a sweetness reminiscent of cherries and vanilla. Very good. I can’t believe I’ve never had this.
