For review #200, I chose Blanton's Original Single Barrel. It is hard to find locally, at least at a decent price. I picked this one up several months ago at a local Vons, of all places, for $79. On to the tasting.
I just about melted when I took my first sip. It's so good, so wonderful. Not complex by any means, just bourbon done right. The orange marmalade, caramel, corn, cherry and spices on the nose drew me in and piqued my anticipation. The velvety palate did not disappoint with more orange, cherry and slight baking spices. The finish is medium length with the same orange and cherry notes plus some nut notes, even ammeretto.
I would buy this again in a heart beat.
