Bowmore Darkest 15 Year

Nose: cherry, apple Palate: fig, green apple, caramel Finish: tinge of smoke, red wine Similar to Bunnahabhain 12 but less richness and depth of flavor. A bit astringent which is a little off putting.

Smoke and ashy, with dried dark fruit. Finishes with a taste of North American bandaid.

My first real venture into whisky on a recommendation from a friend back in 2013, it set me out on a great journey!

Sherry and Peat is a good marriage, Nose: the sherry and the smoke in the first place, Malabar bubblegum, oranges citrus, black grape, green melon, chocolate. Palate: creamy fudge, chocolate and smoke, dark fruits. Reminds me the Bowmore deep and complex. Nice one !

Neck pour. Nose and palate are sweet with smoke, peat, some nutty sherry notes and caramel/toffee. Oily and viscous. Medium finish with a little bite on the tongue and some candied sherry notes intermingled with slight bitterness. 7/14/24 Initial notes hold up. Dropped 1/4 point based on greater experience tasting whiskey.

Light peat. Lots of sherry.
