Reviewed December 6, 2025 (edited March 1, 2026)This is perfect Barton. 118 proof that drinks at 100. Lots of oak, caramel, vanilla, and baking spice. This sip just hangs around. Pour a dram and just let it sit for a half hour or so. My bottle continues to open up which is a fun journey. If you like other Calumet Farm age stated bottles or 1792 then seek this one out. I feel like Calumet 16 year will get you about 70% of the way to this experience. This is like 1792 Aged Twelve Years, but older and punchier. In my extensive collection, this is easily top 5. I'm very glad I rolled the dice on this one. If you order this atva bar, give it plenty of time to air out. Ordering a more common 1792 and this simultaneously and sipping on the 1792 while this gets air time would be a baller move. -

Reviewed October 4, 2025 (edited April 3, 2026)This is a very special 18 year whiskey barreled at 118 proof. This expression was awarded best in show at the 2025 WSWA competition and was named by Forbe’s as the world’s best whiskey. The nose was amazing! I detect hints of dark chocolate, cherry, butterscotch, tobacco, and leather. The palate complements the nose with flavors of vanilla, caramel, and baking spices. The finish is long with maple and medicinal cherry overtones. The packaging is a gorgeous distinctive trophy decanter intended to celebrate the centennial of Calumet Farms. The overall presentation and bourbon is a one-of-kind experience. However, I would rate it at around 4.4 but the app rounded it up.450.0 USD per Bottle -

Reviewed June 16, 2025 (edited June 17, 2025)The nose starts with rich charred oak, vanilla, brown sugar, a touch of molasses sweetness and earthy spice. It comes across more smooth than spicy, but still packs a subtle punch. 118 proof is pretty decent for a cask aged bourbon this old. After a few moments, the earthy spice starts to turn a little more floral, adding to the depth of this. The palate is dry yet chewy, giving a burst of oak, cherry and intense baking spices. Further sips give a certain fruitiness to it, leaning towards banana. It is reminiscent of Barton whiskey, as that is one of the few bourbons that offer banana as a tasting note. It is very easy to drink, as with each sip the spice subsides a bit more. This allows you to enjoy the depth of the creamy oakiness. The finish is long and chewy, with lingering oak and heat, with each two extracting more flavor. Maybe not the most intense flavor profile for bourbon of this age, but it is still full and very enjoyable. Perhaps proofed down a little bit might bring out some interesting flavors, however this is still good on its own. Is it worth the price? Maybe not as this doesn't exactly blow you away. Would still make an excellent addition to the collection as this is something you've got to drink more of and spend even more time with, to appreciate it.
