Copper & Kings Butchertown Brandy

An intense, Cask Strength Small Batch Brandy by Copper & Kings Distillery in Louisville, Kentucky crafted with grapes including French Colombard, Muscat de Alexandrie & Chenin Blanc distilled in exclusive copper pots, aged in Kentucky Bourbon barrels & new American oak casks before being bottled at 62% ABV. It has an aromatic birth with notes of Kentucky Bourbon, hints of blackberry & cherry; while a bold life adds notes of Whiskey, Brandy, peaches & dark cherry; that leads to a dry & velvety death with hints of flowers, toasted oak & tannins. Notes of…ethanol. Which I suppose is accurate to the “bourbon” experience. But some grape aftertaste

This doesn’t taste like the single barrel offering I bought from the gift shop. I’m so thankful for that. This is a way better expression and does not taste like someone’s mistake.

Grape-y, soft apricots. Heat does show up. Lighter body than expected but a warming finish.

Initial taste without water was a lot of burn, but very fruity (plums, maybe?) and a hint of caramel. Adding a bit of water tones down the burn, but you still feel the heat. Water also definitely tones down the fruit flavors, unfortunately. I wish there was a bit more balance in this. Very good otherwise. Drinks like a full proof bourbon
