Equiano Rum Limited Batch 01

A rich, limited batch, aged Afro-Carribean Rum that is a collaboration between Barbados' Foursquare, aged in American white oak & Gray's Distillery of Mauritius, aged in French limousine oak & Cognac casks. It's then married in ex-bourbon casks and bottled at Foursquare & bottled at 43% ABV. It has an aromatic birth with notes of buttery oak, marmalade on toast, chocolate truffle & dried berries; while a rich life adds notes of chocolate, oak, butterscotch & ginger; that leads to a balanced death of medium length with notes of sweet pepper, anise, oak, juicy raspberry, orange oil & caraway. Nice spice and burn that more dances on the tongue than overwhelms. Molasses addes wonderful toffee flavor. Perfect to drink straight or with an old fashion or Manhattan.

I can definitely get those foursquare notes, but there’s something else. Something sweet, spicy, and warm, for a 43% ABV. There’s something artificial in the initial taste, but it finishes with sweet notes like smarties (light).
