Flor de Caña Gran Reserva 7 Rum

Neat in Costa Ricaa. I've had this many times, surprised I haven't rated it. Cane sugar, caramel, vanilla. This is a sweet rum. I prefer Centenario 12 yr from CR.

Smooth taste with little burn on the finish.

On the nose, very prominent vanilla and caramel with mild notes of coconut and light honey. On the palate, a good thorough swish brings out those caramel and vanilla flavors accompanied by a light note of black pepper and clove in the throat. The finish is quick and clean with few flavors remaining on the palate. Very basic rum, not too sweet, and likely a perfect choice in a Cuba Libre. Ok mixer and not overly sweet. For $1 less I’d get plantation 5yr.

Aromas of cinnamon, cola, vanilla, nutmeg, cloves, and licorice. On the palate, notes of caramel, oak, and roasted chestnuts, along with more vanilla, nutmeg, and cloves. Round, lightly tannic mouthfeel. Considerable length on the finish. 3.25/5.00 – Quite Good (neat)

Ambiguous, slight toasted coconut, slight oak, mild

Really nice floater on a pina colada, but not a sipper.
