Glenfarclas 17 Year

The ‘Werther’s Original’ of Highland whiskey. A mild spice and fruity nose, with a butterscotch palate. Strays a little from the classic GF palate but overall a good, buttery dram of caramel covered scotch.

I'm having this delicious Glenfarclas again (mid-week). I see I tasted this and posted a mercifully short review just last year. It's still delicious and, y'know what? I think the 17 is better than the 21. There I said it. Cheers!

Lite metallisk russindoft. Mild, fyllig (nästan som choklad). Marsipan. Lättdrucken.

There is a lot of character backing this, though it does need a bit more richness to taste really old. It's woody, chocolatey, a bit spicy, smoky, leathery, a little tobacco-flavored, and a hint nutty. There's some vanilla and salt, the latter of which is a bit excessive for this flavor profile. The bitter orange peel strength brings in some mineral flavors an unnecessary bitterness that bring this drink down a bit, but it's still really good. A good substitute for Glenfarclas 25 at a lower price.

Dark caramel and figs on the nose with baking spices and orange zest on the tongue. It’s a delicious sherry cash treat that I save for special days.
