I’ve had a few high West products and thought I’d try out this particular rye offering. Price list is for 375ml.
The nose has, wait for it... Rye! Also, I pick up cola, anise, corn some baking spices, vanilla and some sweetness.
The palate is light and slightly creamy in texture. There is a good amount of rye, vanilla, slightly dusty barn, and a little sweetness.
The finish is long with lingering rye spice and a slow burn on the sides of tongue and throat. Very nice.
At this point, I wouldn’t consider myself a “rye guy”, but this is nice and enjoyable.
It doesn’t actually have any corn in it after looking up the mashbills used in this blend, so it’s interesting that corn was a somewhat prominent note that I was picking up.
