Reviewed November 20, 2023 (edited November 22, 2023)When I bought a couple of bottles at the White Rabbit Bottle Shop before taking a tour at the Jack Daniel Distillery, I had no idea this would be one of the best whiskies I’d ever drink. It’s simply phenomenal. Rich and sweet in the nose, with rum- or whiskey-soaked raisins, vanilla, and oak. Sweet on the palette, with molasses, vanilla, and rye spice, and a bit of burn as it goes down. Finishes a little dryer, with plenty of rye spice lingering on the lips and tongue for a good while.37.5 USD per BottleThe White Rabbit Bottle Shop -

Reviewed January 7, 2022 (edited December 3, 2022)Aroma- big rye up front and it seems confrontational… big cinnamon, vanilla, fall spices very well rounded nose here. Looking forward to diving in here Taste - leather, rye, vanilla, spice, mint, heavy oak… all hit on the first sip. Second sip brings more heat and heavy oak… the rye spice hits on all cylinders sides of tongue and upper lips. Long finish. Damn this is a solid offering. No need to add ice to dial the hear back either… at 63% this is just so balanced it’s unnecessary Had it side by side with Rare Breed Rye, enjoyed this one just a touch more due to the finish -

Reviewed January 5, 2022 (edited April 2, 2022)It’s got some good spice, drinks every bit of a 127 proof rye, and finishes leaving you wanting more. It’s like a good spicy hot wing… in the moment it’s a lot but as soon as it’s over you want to go in for more. Drink it straight up, given the price point and relative scarcity enjoy it for what is it. Yes, I made a old fashioned with it… for scyence. It definitely doesn’t get lost in the cocktail but it doesn’t seem to stand out more than other similar high proof ryes when mixed.35.0 USD per Bottle -

Reviewed July 5, 2021 (edited July 6, 2021)Incredible nose on this with spice, caramel, orange zest, fruit notes, and vanilla. It's mouth coating with a good bit of heat. Sweet, molasses, spicy. Finish is long as the spice gradually fades. For those who enjoy high proof whiskies, it's a definite recommend. -

Reviewed October 18, 2020 (edited December 3, 2022)This is a well made product that differentiates itself from other Rye’s on the market. The nose is maple sugar, vanilla, butterscotch and a little oak. The palate morphs into brown sugar, vanilla, spearmint, orange marmalade, apricots and then rye spice with black pepper, and rye muffin linger on the palate. Rye spice is hiding at the beginning of the experience but makes itself known late. I love this one as it’s absence of dill and anise allows fruit, spearmint and rye flavor to shine through. Excellent whiskey! -

Reviewed March 25, 2020 (edited May 3, 2020)This special Tennessee rye has a dark copper color and thin watery legs. The nose is sweet and full, rich with notes of caramel apple, vanilla frosting, orange soda, robust maple syrup, syrupy cherry, overripe peach, dill, and black licorice. With a splash of water more floral and grassy notes rise up. The palate is punchy with notes of char, orchard fruit, dill pickle, spice cabinet herbs, graham crackers, and rye and barrel spice. With that splash of water a note of watermelon candy comes out as well as turning down the heat. The finish is like a trek through the desert: long, hot, and dry. This interpretation of Jack Daniel’s rye whiskey is good but it’s harsh too. Taking it down to a lower proof was a good move and I respect it. I’m glad I got to try it right out of the barrel, but I acknowledge some whiskeys are better when proofed down. Thanks Jack! Cheers!
