Jack Daniels is what brought me into the whiskey world over 30 years ago, but I quickly moved on opting for higher proofs and lower corn in the mash and haven't had any in a lot of years. When I saw they've been branching out more I finally decided to try this one. The nose is banana bread with hints of paint and pine. The palate shows all the whiskies in the blend. The malt comes through strong with yeast and grape. Rye brings spice and pepper. The JD banana flavor lingers in the background. Quick finish. Fairly thin and ice makes it more so. Pretty tame even for 100 proof. Overall, way more interesting than standard JD. Not something I'd drink everyday or even all night, but an interesting choice for tastings with friends.
