Reviewed January 13, 2024 (edited January 15, 2024)Nose: rich deep flavors, oakiness that I love. Fruit, raisins and malt in the breakground. Great start to the pour. Palate: Right off the bat i get roasted nuts like cashews and a bit a savory notes. Finishin: Is a little muted, but i get some maraschino cherries and plum. This is a really surprising scotch because i was expecting to get strong sherry influences like the other kirkland speyside scotches if had in the past, but for me, this whisky really falls in the more savory side. The nose is the best part of the experience.80.0 USD per Bottle -

Reviewed March 27, 2022 (edited September 3, 2022)Let this one open up for at least 20 minutes. You will get more out of it. N: deep brown sugar, rich maltiness, dark ripe fruits, dried fruits, plum, cherry, mixed berries, good sherry presence, baked oranges, baking spices, dark chocolate, old woody oak. T: very similar to the nose and very smooth, dark fruits, malty richness, brown sugar, orange, hint of dark chocolate, a good quality tobacco smoke, old leather, oak, lightest pepperiness on the finish, a gentle and easy going finish. Got it for around $80 where I’m at. Like the others before this one (the 20-23 yr), it delivers a great dram for the price. I will most definitely be getting the next year edition to this series. -

Reviewed January 24, 2022 (edited September 13, 2022)It has to be one of the darkest scotches I have tried. The initial nose was very light with just a hint of sherry coming through. After setting for 10min I get a nice chocolate aroma. On the palate I get the sherry, chocolate along with malt a bit of oak and spice. There is a sweetness that I wasn’t expecting. The finish is medium with chocolate, fruit and a very slight hint of oak. Mouth feel is on the edge of creaminess but at least it’s not thin. Overall it was a great purchase. You could pay $100 for it and it would still be a good purchase. Next taste I will bloom it with a drop of water which I almost never do. That is a 2oz pour in the glass.70.0 USD per BottleCostco Wholesale -

Reviewed December 29, 2021 (edited September 3, 2022)NOSE Sherry, chocolate, dried dark fruit, xmas cake, gourmet licorice, roasted nuts and some baking spice. Wow, ok. This is a dark, heavy, warm aroma that delivers on the complexity. PALATE Sherry, chocolate, gourmet licorice, nuts, fruit cake, vanilla frosting, malty sweetness, dried dark fruit, and some oak, leather and baking spice. I’m very happy with this palate, this is tasty. FINISH Med-long -> Dark fruit, malt, cocoa, spice and oak drift out gently.
