Reviewed December 17, 20222022 Costco $170 Nose: hard to describe. Not exactly sure what I am getting except one dill and rice grain. Sweet up front but very smooth. Mid is more like fresh baked rye bread with a honey glaze. The finish is medium in length, but has some light oak, maybe licorice and earthy mushroom? Pepper in the back with more grain. Different and fun. -

Reviewed October 21, 2022This is something else. Smells like a B vitamin and has mineral like properties. Very interesting. Piqued my curiosity about the distiller -

Reviewed October 18, 2022Funky, funky nose. Bready, malty, elderflower, damp, moldy, earthy, with spice and mint in the finish. Well done and unique. If I’m in the mood to focus on flavors, I’d go to this one. Absolutely respect the uniqueness. The Campbeltown of the US. I think there’s a lot of tails in this, some wet cardboard. -

Reviewed July 19, 2022 (edited December 5, 2022)It’s good but this is not a $200 bottle of rye. I literally couldn’t figure out another explanation outside of Leopold is charging the consumer for the cost of their equipment, which that’s crap! Maybe the newer batches justify the price. But I’m telling you right now. It would be in your best interest to get a pour from a bar before spending 200 or more an 4 year old better extracted rye. Honestly if you still can find the leopold/Dickel collab for $109 I enjoyed that expression more and would buy that over this release.200.0 USD per Bottle -

Reviewed June 24, 2022 (edited July 19, 2022)As someone who is a huge fan of most rye whiskey, I can confidently say this is the most overpriced garbage I’ve ever tried… it’s FULL of that “crafty” too-much-tails-in-the-distillate note that I cannot stand and is a marker for poor distillation techniques. I literally wouldn’t pay $20 for this, much less $200… insanity. -

Reviewed April 9, 2022 (edited July 13, 2022)Such a crazy unique rye. Nose is starchy pasta water. Lots of malted notes on the palate that merges into a honeyed sweetness. Long oily finish with a muted spice.
