Little Book Chapter 4: Lessons Honored

This presents a nose dominated by peanut brittle, butterscotch, and whole grain cereal. The blend of this whiskey makes for an interesting palate of honey, nuts, and salted caramel. I love Beam's exploration of rice bourbons. The finish was medium-long, which was a little disappointing. For the proof, this whiskey does not drink very hot, which I find to be the case with a lot of Beam cask strength releases.

👀 old gold! 🤥 A little spicy, spearmint, floral black pepper, Citrus lemon Cracker Jack!?!? 👅 Sweet silky starchy funk! Tangy sweet peanut flavor??? Astringent? Cant say I have ever had anything like it but I love it! 🧠Really a mind fuck! Nice long finish. Would pay $125 all day. 🏅Lessons are definitely honored in this one. The finish is the main course here. What’s unique here is the creamy silky fruit mouthfeel!

Opens up with cinnamon and sugar coated apple jack cereal to the nose. On the palate it’s a balance of sweet fruit almost like a hand pie coated with sugar. It transforms into a little spice that lingers on the finish with a more grainy note like bowl of wheat. The finish is very long. Overall, excellent!

The nose is sweet fruit like berry jam or cobbler with floral notes and cinnamon. The palate is still fruit forward with flavors of grain or cereal like the topping of a good fruit cobbler. Long, warm finish. I can feel that the rye is there but it does not jump out, even on the finish. Slight char on the finish of the second sip. Overall, I’d love to pair this with a cobbler or a rich berry pie.

Interesting nose. Almost smells like Playdoh to me. Thankfully it doesn’t taste like it. Cinnamon burst up front. Definitely taste the earthy mid-palate with a nice lastly finish. I like it.
