Nose: sweet but also astringent.
Taste: bitter oak dominant. There is sweetness there, but it pales to the bitterness.
There’s also some baking spices.
* Admittedly, regular Maker’s doesn’t match well with my pallet and this one stays true to that. It is better with a rock for me.

I’m revisiting this. I previously gave it a 3.0. I’m just burned out chasing “rare” and “special” bourbons. I’ve really tried to focus on what the good bourbons are that I personally like and can actually find. For the money, makers 101 is a great value under $40. It’s an easy sipper and makes a great old fashioned.
