Mellow Corn Bottled in Bond Whiskey

Sweet with a slight bite

Very light straw color. Thin, slow moving legs. Nose shows plenty of ethanol, corn, a bit of mint, some hints of light caramel, maybe a little rye discernable. Not much going on, flavor-wise. Not bad, just completely unexciting. Some dry oak, a bit of caramel. Mint notes throughout mingle with vanilla and salty peanuts. It really isn't bad. Just completely un exciting

This is the definition of a friends-with-benefits whiskey. I wouldn’t be caught dead taking Mellow Corn to the prom; but she’s always there for me in between pay checks when I text “hey, u up?” on a Friday night. Much like a blockbuster action movie, this liquor doesn’t pretend to be something it’s not. It’s not elegant, but the sweet corn flavor is as Americana as it comes. Everyone should try it at least once!

Tasted as part of flavor profile education. The corn is rich on the nose. Sweet and dusty note. Overall it's bright and shiny but does get tad darker with a sweet note taking over. The first taste you get is bright sweet and sour notes. As you sit with it it actually develops into a darker dram with richer sweet and savory notes. The finish is sweet and corn dusty. Really surprised by how good this actually is. At the very least it helps me to narrow down the band of flavor profile corn produces. A bit of water actually brings a few things as well so don't forget to try it. An interesting use: take a sip of this before a dram of bourbon. It will acclimate you to the corn and you'll find some new stuff in the bourbon.

Although this isn't anything exciting to write home about, this is a nice, cheap corn whiskey that doesn't try to be anything it isn't. Its simple, but enjoyable, and good for the price.

Surprisingly drinkable I think. No burn at all. Sweet.
