Nelson Brothers Reserve Bourbon

Dark chocolate cherries underneath rye and a hint of vanilla. Depth but not much changing. Will look forward to additional tastes.

Nose: barnyard, leather, peanuts, dusted with powdered sugar Taste: vanilla, nuts, honey, caramel, breakfast cereal. Sweet and balanced. Would make a good comp for Buffalo T. Finish: mildly spicy tannic medium length Beat out Baker’s 7yr in a blind test. Finished second to Belle Meade Reserve.

Earthy, mild red hots. The nose has an added sweetness. Slick vegetal addition on palate. Peppery, lingering dry finish.

Ethanol on the nose and palate. Classic bourbon notes are here too, but seem muted, dull. Thin mouthfeel and an unremarkable finish. Purchased this bottle based on a WhiskeyTube review, so I was expecting a better experience. Maybe it’s the ‘neck pour’ syndrome! Hopefully it improves with time.
