For 2022 Nikka has released a pair of whiskies which focuses on the unique aromas generated by yeast from their two distilleries, Yoichi and Miyagikyo. Each whisky is made using rare, experimental batches from its culture collection.

Tasting Notes
"The whisky is really mild on the nose with a little oak, honey, and a gentle floral note. Moving on to the taste, the whisky has a light/medium body and a gentle flavor profile. There's some barrel spices, and a bittersweet flavor to be found. Retasting brings the floral note a bit stronger to the profile, but overall, each of the flavor and aroma points are so light you really have to focus your senses to catch the nuances here. It's not a struggle, though as this is an enjoyable dram. "
