Rieger's Kansas City Whiskey

An intense, American Blended Whiskey by J. Rieger & Co. Distillery in Kansas City, Missouri crafted with a blend of Straight Bourbon Whiskey, light corn Whiskey & Straight Rye Whiskey along with a 'drop' of 15 YO Oloroso Sherry from the Williams & Humbert Bodega in Jerez, Spain, aged for a minimum of 4 years & bottled at 46% ABV. It has an aromatic birth with notes of Sherry, caramel, butterscotch & corn Whiskey; while a rich & spice life adds notes of sweet corn Whiskey, dried fruits, almonds, allspice & bitter chocolate; that led to a bold & warming death of medium length with notes of oak & rye spice. Initially smooth. Nicely balanced between sweet (fruity) and spicy (rye). The finish is more spicy than fruity. Good neat as well as on the rocks.

Sweetness overload. Vanilla, caramel, butterscotch, just all sugar. Rich enough to carry the sweetness, and tastes well made. But a little much for me.
